Army plans for three more burns. Two burns complete, so far, in 2017.

Approximately 265 acres of vegetation at Unit B and 143 acres of vegetation at Unit C were burned in the northern portion of the Fort Ord National Monument and are now complete.  The Army has also planned for three prescribed burns in the Impact Area. The date for those burns has not yet been determined and will depend on future site specific conditions.

The northern portion of the Fort Ord National Monument is now open for access except for areas closed for munitions cleanup see map below. The Army has a security program in place around the cleanup units to prevent access where cleanup of explosive hazards has not yet been removed. These security measures are for public safety.
